Description:
Serial #79183, .50-70, 22" barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some minor freckling within the grooves. This three groove carbine retains 95-97% of an old, added rust blue finish on the barrel, with some mild silvering at the muzzle, and a matching serial number under the forend. The frame has about 60-70% of the original color case-hardening remaining, with the balance turned to a mild plum-brown patina with areas of dark freckling as well. The sling bar and ring are finished bright, and there is mottled brown freckling along the lever. The walnut buttstock and forend are in very good shape with small handling marks and blemishes throughout, and a faint cartouche on the left side of the buttstock under a late, added varnish finish. The action lock-up is still tight and functions flawlessly. This is a great looking cartridge converted Sharps carbine overall. Antique
