Here we present a Marlin Model 97 Lever Action .22 Rimfire Rifle, made circa 1905-1922 in New Haven, Connecticut. John Mahlon Marlin, founder of the company, served as a machinist with Colt Patent Firearms of Hartford prior to starting his own firearm manufacturing company in New Haven in 1863 during the American Civil War, where he initially concentrated on production of small, single shot .22 deringers.
The overall condition is good. Gray, weathered patina. The action is strong. The bore is clean with decent rifling. The stock has some nice grain and remains solid.
