PRE-WAR WW2 SPRINGFIELD U.S. M1 OR M-1 GARAND .30-06 STRIPPED RIFLE RECEIVER WITH 5 DIGIT SERIAL NUMBER CIRCA AUG 1940. Serial number "53,1XX" with crisp "U.S. Rifle/ Cal. .30 M1/ Springfield/ Armory" aobve s/n. Drawing number "D28291-2" on leg with "C 1 I B" above that. Only other markings beside address/serial# behind rear sight is "K" on underside of receiver all crisply struck, as is address. Original finish never been arsenal refurbed with cosmoline in recesses and CRISP barrel threads. Very rare Pre-War Springfield Garand chassie ready to have a shooter or collector rifle built around it.
