Description: Yes you read that right. This rifle was built in Germany for Mahillon and proofed (in 1934) as a 12,6x70 (500 Jeff) for a 535 gr jacketed bullet, later rechambered to a rimmed version of the same cartridge based on the 577NE case, for sure extraction. Comes with correct RCBS case-forming dies and a set of loading dies, and some brass. We also have 75 Woodleigh 535gr softs and 75 Woodleigh 535gr solids in stock, reserved for the purchaser of this rifle. Rifle has a Greener bolt, side bolsters, disc-set strikers, extended top tang, articulated front trigger, magnetic trapdoor grip cap, 3 leaf rear and a folding front sight protector (dual beads, a fine bead and an ivory night bead) . Bores are excellent and all is tight. Regulated at 60 yards for 535gr Woodleighs over a pinch of dacron, 108 gr RL15, Win LR magnum primers, for 2250fps. It has been professionally restored and restocked, now 11lbs. A unique and beautiful weapon that will outstop a 500NE by about 1000 ft.lbs .. not for the timid. Advice for the new owner: recoil is almost intolerable. Not to be shot from the bench, shoot standing up and wear a shoulder pad. You could also back off a grain or two, 2250 is more than enough to kill anything, and this will probably bring the points of impact together. Of course, when staring down a buffalo, you won't feel a thing! And shooting your 30-06 will feel like a 22 after this. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
