NSN .45 caliber 33" octagonal barrel Engraved percussion musket by G.P. Foster manufactured circa 1854-1856. Rifle is in untouched relic condition with the metal finish a dark brown/plum patina. Heavy pitting is noted my the breech. Double set triggers and action do function correctly. Forearm is a period correct replacement piece, butt-stock shows dings, scratches and handling wear. Left side of frame is marked G.P. Foster/Bristol/R.I. Foster and General Burnside worked together and developed the design for the Burnside Carbine.
