VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND MODEL 25 CARBINE, .25-20 CALIBER WITH CORRECT 17 3/4" BARREL AND STRAIGHT STOCK, #17XXX. These pump Remingtons were made from 1923-1936 in .25-20 and .32-20 calibers only. The standard rifle had a 24" barrel with a pistol grip stock and the Carbine, usually described as having an 18" barrel, had barrels that actually measured 17 1/2 inches - 18 1/2 inches, were made with straight, non-pistol grip stocks. All had 2/3 magazines. Carbines are extremely scarce and when found are often in poor condition. This is a fine example that retains nearly all the blue on the barrel with a hint of plum mixing from age. The mag tube shows similar blue but with typical wear from the pump action as the magazine moves through the retaining band each time the action is worked. The receiver also shows fine blue with only a small rub spot on the left side of the receiver. The stock and forend are fine with NO cracks around the wrist area. The rear sight is a "protected" small buckhorn within side plates that may be an old replacement in the dovetail. Front sight is a small blade/bead. Has the correct swivel in the butt stock to match one that screws in to the magazine retaining band- the swivel is missing, but the band is correct and should be easy to replace the swivel. The butt plate is original, the action is tight and the bore is excellent and bright. Very fine example of a hard Remington to locate in any condition.
