Here we have an honest workhorse of a pump shotgun - an Ithaca Model 37 12 gauge. The Ithaca Model 37 is a true American classic. It’s the lone survivor of the pre-World War II pump-action shotguns—the Winchester Model 12 and Model 97, and the Remington 31. What set the 37 apart was its action. The model 37 ejects empty shells at the bottom. Bottom ejection has several benefits: Empties are ejected at the shooter’s feet (and not at a buddy), the action is better protected from debris and bottom-ejecting guns work well for left-handed shooters. This particular example is not your "run of the mill" Model 37.....this gun has very nice wood and nicely done wraparound checkering with white spacer on the grip cap and KICK-EEZ pad. The action is smooth and sure. The finish on the receiver is worn to a handsome warm grey patina. The 30 inch barrel has a very nice bore and is choked fixed full. The solid rib has brass mid and front bead sights. Attractive hunting scenes grace each side of the receiver. This fine Ithaca has many years of hunting left in it and would make a great field gun or an excellent addition to a collection.
