Description:
Serial #70-56587, .257 Roberts, 24 inch medium weight barrel with a bright, excellent bore. This is an exceptionally rare Ruger Model 77, ST version with round top receiver and sights in the highly desirable .257 Robers caliber that was uncataloged and made in a very limited quantity (Book says maybe 2000). The factory letter indicates this rifle was produced in May of 1972, which was the year this cartridge was introduced, in the Newport, New Hampshire facility and shipped to Gopher Shooters Supply Co. in Faribault, MN that same month. It is a true “safe queen" that shows no evidence of having been fired since leaving the factory and remains in factory new, excellent condition with only extremely mild handling marks. The former collector protected the metal by leaving a film of grease which you can see the residue of in some of the photos. It did it's job! The blued barrel, receiver and bolt handle are excellent retaining 99% plus original blue finish, the matte finished floorplate and trigger guard are likewise excellent. The walnut stock is excellent with crisp checkering and beautiful wood grain. The red Ruger recoil pad is excellent as is the white with black eagle outline grip cap. It comes in the original cardboard Ruger box numbered to the gun and includes the original hang tag and box inserts , curiously the box has a stamped RT model label which is most likey the box they had available for this uncataloged rifle. Also included is a Factory letter. A rare gun due to the caliber and in Seldom-seen high condition that is perfect for the most discriminating Ruger collector. C&R
