Ok. So I am far from an expert on these rifles. I will do my best to describe it, hopefully the pictures with help with the rest. This one is a standard 24" octagon barrel rifle, 3rd series, in caliber 38-40, born in 1886. Rifling is visible but very worn, the barrel is clean, front sight blade may be very old ivory, just don't know for sure. Rifle is fully functional and tight. No dents in the magazine, but there is a little bit of pitting in the middle towards the muzzle. I would suggest that the wood is original, as the fit is very nice overall. Fairly certain a couple of the screws have been replaced. It appears that the buttstock sustained some damage at some time, as there is evidence of repairs and wood filler around the upper tang. Also numerous small dots that have been filled. Pretty well done, but odd. Wood worms? Buttplate fits very nicely. Wood is tight to the rifle. Caliber marking on brass lifter is very worn. Barrel markings are strong. Mostly a brown gun, as you can see. Overall a very attractive '73, that likely could be shot if you wanted to. It has been stored properly for many, many years. $55 shipping to the lower 48, 3% surcharge for using a CC.
