EARLY MEXICAN WAR HORSTMANN & SONS U.S. MODEL 1840 NON-COMISSIONED OFFICER’S SWORD WITH RARE ETCHED BLADE CIRCA 1840’S-50’S. 35 ½” o/a with 30” floral etched blade stamped on the riccasso “HORSTMANN/& SONS” and “PHILADELPHIA” on the obverse. Incorporated in the floral motifs on each side are martial stands of flags. Brass hilt of higher quality with turned down counter with light border engraving. Very good overall and nice etching. Rare early Mexican War N.C.O.
