Here we have a gorgeous 20 gauge Parker DHE Grade reproduction made by Winchester (Olin-Kodensha) in Japan. Michael McIntosh is quoted as saying “In some ways the Parker Reproduction was one of the most important guns of the 1980s, because it demonstrated beyond any question that machine-manufacturing technology can accomplish an astonishing high level of quality at a comparatively low price. There is no object in the world quite so captivating as an exquisitely hand-made gun, but by the same token, excellent machine work is far preferable to mediocre results rendered by hand. Few modern guns show this more clearly than the Parker Reproduction.” This particular example is in minty condition with only the slightest of handling marks. The stocks are a two piece fancy walnut set. The splinter forend has case-colored engraved metal fixtures and wrap-around checkering, to the original Parker specifications. The skeletonized metal butt plate is finely engraved and the cut checkering is sharp. Metal components are case color hardened or blued and exhibit very few marks or wear. The flanks of the frame have a pointer and setter, with to-spec Parker scroll engraving; the underside of the frame has engraving and “PARKER” with birds in flight; the underside, by the trigger, is marked “R” and "L" for the selectable trigger. The upper tang is marked “SAFE”, the lower tang has the serial number. The butt plate is scroll engraved, the belly of the butt stock has a metal oval insert that has not been engraved. The 26 inch barrel is clean and bright and has a brass bead front sight at the muzzle. This fine Parker reproduction would make an excellent addition to the gun collection of an avid bird hunter or collector.
