Here we have an honest and vintage Marlin 20-A pump action rifle. this 20-A is in great overall condition for its age and shows various scattered handling marks throughout. The Model 20-A was manufactured from 1907 to 1922 in the New Haven, CT plant. The metal has some high edge wear, and very minor discoloration, and retains almost all of its original color. The richly colored walnut is exceptional for a well over 100 years old rifle. Both the stock and forend show signs of various scattered handling marks and the stock has had a light repair on either side of the top tang. The pump action on this little beauty is smooth and tight. At some point in the past, the tubular magazine was shortened resulting in an empty dovetail on the bottom of the octagon barrel about 1 1/2" from the muzzle. The gunsmithing was very well done and the modification does not take away the function or appearance of this sleek and nimble rifle. This historical piece would make a fine addition to a growing collection or a fine way to start a new one.
