Description:
Ithaca 10 gauge Field Grade SxS shotgun. An interesting gun in more ways than it being a big “10”.. It had to have been special ordered in that it has a Single Non-selective trigger and a beaver-tail forearm. Not only a beavertail FE but both the forearm and buttstock are configured for a grade 4 or 5 gun with the fleur-de-lis checkering and the ebony insert! Also the gun is equipped with a non-automatic safety.
The 32” barrels are 3 ½” chamber, .775” bores and .040” choke in each tube. Extractors.
The stock has a 14 1/8” LOP over a 1” Hawkins recoil pad with 1 ½” DAC and 2 ¼” DAH with neutral cast. Mechanically excellent. The cosmetics are very good with about 60% lightly fading case colors. The barrels had been re-blacked at some point and retain 98% finish since then. The trigger guard was refinished then as well. The wood finish looks completely original and other than a few, expected “dings” and “dents” it is in remarkable fine condition. One other note: the front sight is missing.
This probably won’t see extra duty as a Sporting Clays gun since the behemoth weighs 11 lbs. 3 oz.!!
