Description:
Standard 24 inch octagon barrel chambered in the original 44 WCF caliber with full length mag tube. Features a good bore with strong rifling as well as light roughness scattered throughout. Blade front and a standard sporting rear sights. All metal surfaces have toned to a gunmetal gray/brown patina. Loading gate still retains most of its fire blue. Thumb print dust cover. Good markings. Special order Set Trigger that works although the head of the adjustment screw has broken off. Lever latch appears to be modified with small wings to make it easier to turn. Straight grain walnuts look and fit well. Just the usual light handling mars. A good example of an early Model 1873 rifle made in 1876.
