Hello and welcome to Bass Pro Shops in Harrisburg, PA. Presented to you, is a French MAS (Manufacture d'Armes de Saint-Étienne) MLE 1936. It is chambered in 7.5x54 French and has a very good bore. The barrel has a "G" stamped on the front left side. This indicates that it is counter-bored, which was done from factory for grenade launching and that started on 1948 production models. However, according to research, the cursive "L" followed by the serial number should have this rifle dated as 1945 production. The "G" barrel on this early model would have been factory refurbished during the 1960's. The visibile serial numbers are all matching. There is a small "E" on the top left of the receiver, with two indecipherable markings underneath it. Overall this rifle is in very good condtion, most likely due to its arsenal refurbishment. It has a discreet import mark from Century Arms. 7.5 French
