Description:
Serial #32002, .230 RF, 2 1/2" octagon barrel with a very good, lightly pitted bore. This is a very nice revolver that is retailer marked on the barrel: "E.M. REILLY & Co. / 502 OXFORD ST. LONDON / & RUE SCRIBE PARIS". The brass frame has tight scrollwork engraving, with geometric patterns at the muzzle end of the barrel, and retains 75-80% of the original bright blue finish that has flaked to plum0-brown in a few spots. The cylinder has an overall plum-brown patina, with some specks of mild surface freckling in spots. The hammer, trigger, and trigger guard retain much of the original blue finish, with thinning and silvering along the exposed edges. The frame has traces of the original gold wash finish remaining on protected areas, with the balance tarnished to a pleasant yellow-ochre patina. The finely checkered walnut grip is in excellent shape with only a few small handling marks, and trace flattening of the points. The engraved buttplate has a yellow-ochre patina as well. The lock-up is tight, and the action functions flawlessly in both single and double action. This is a wonderful example of a Tranter solid-frame pocket revolver, and would make a splendid addition to any collection. Antique
