Description:
Years ago a parts company in NY state manufactured muzzleloading barrels that you could drop into your trapdoor Springfield and shoot a 44 caliber patched round balls or a hollow base conical bullet. This was done by removing the barrel bands and rear tang screw and complete breechloading action. Then you dropped this muzzleloading barrel in the stock and replaced the tang screw and barrel bands. The cleaning rod was used to load the replacement muzzleloading barrel. Many of these barrels were sold! It was a cheap way to have fun with your old Springfield Trapdoor rifle without altering it. Was easy to remove this muzzleloader barrel and reinstall the original breechloading action and barrel assembly to go back to a cartridge rifle. These barrels are like new. They have a bore diameter of .445" and a groove diameter of .460 A .440 round ball and a .010 patch will work. The bores are clean and bright with musket nipples installed. You will have to purchase a reproduction musket rear sight and screw. These barrels do not have a rear sight installed. (sold pending arrival of $$$)
