Description:
1826 North. This is a scarce Simeon North Model 1826 Pistol Made for the United States Navy.  It's .54 Caliber with an 8 5/8" barrel, basically a smaller version of the Model 1819 North Contract Pistols to the Army.  Only 1,500 pairs of these Pistols were made from 1826-1828 and delivered to the Brooklyn Naval Yard.  The metal has never been cleaned.  Lock is marked "U.S./ S. NORTH"  and "1828" behind the hammer.  Like almost all of surviving examples, it was converted to percussion probably sometime around the 1850's using the Belgian Cone Method.  It has its original ramrod and belt hook.  The mainspring is a little weak but functional.  The wood is solid with no splits or cracks, just the expected minor dings and bumps from nearly 200 years of service. The breech of the barrel has a faint “P” in an oval cartouche.  This is very good representative example of a rare US pistol that won’t break the bank.
