1892 .38-40 ROUND BARREL RIFLE WITH EXCELLENT BORE, #749XXX, MADE THE FIRST YEAR OF "THE GREAT WAR" IN 1914. This example shows fine deep blue on the mag tube and even aged and thinning blue on the barrel. The receiver is an uncleaned gray/brown with good blue on the loading gate. Flat top buckhorn rear sight with screw adjustable blade with sighting notch and elevator bar intact. Front sight is a 1902 patented small blade. Stock and forend show normal hunting/handling wear with tight wood to metal fit. Tight action with strong safety notch on the hammer and a fairly bright excellent bore with sharp rifling throughout. Nice 108 year old 1892 rifle.
