Two reinforcing screws  (standard to all NM rifle stocks); Shotgun style all steel butt plate; headless cocking piece; reversed safety; Star gaged barrel; drilled and tapped by Springfield Armory for Lyman 48 receiver sight. No rear ladder sight. These rifles were available from DCM from 1924 through 1928. This one was sold to Ray W Sanford (my grandfather's cousin) on September 27, 1924.  See "The Springfield 1903 Rifles" by Lt. Col. William S Brophy, USAR Retired; page 203. A copy of the original sales record from Springfield Research Service is available. Butterfield & Butterfield estimates that about 150 of these rifles were produced in 1924. In Summary of DCM Rifle Sales 1922-1942, the serial number on the rifle is listed as NM.  In the production record there is no distinction made for the various configurations of NM rifles produced.  $4350 plus $150 Shipping = $4500
