Description:
This is a pre Victory model S&W US Gov't issued .38 S&W caliber Revolver with a 5 inch barrel, original smooth walnut grips, lanyard ring, etc. It does not have a V in front of the serial number. On the butt there is an ordnance bomb with the initials WB for the inspector. This is the revolver that later became the so called Victory Model with the V prefix. This fine example has an excellent bore and chambers and was a vet bring back from the conflict in the Pacific during WWII. Original smooth walnut grips are perfect. Top of frame (left side) is marked UNITED STATES PROPERTY. You will find hundreds of Victory models before you will find one of these earlier HE US Gov't issued revolvers. Serial number is 893939 - on butt frame, barrel, and cylinder of this 5 screw revolver and overall finish is 95% plus with the only wear being from holster carry on the high spots.
