Description:
General Specs: H&R, Year 1912-1916, .25acp, 12.4oz
Serial Number: 689

At the beginning of the 20th Century it was common for people to carry small pistols as personal protection, often chambered in .25ACP/ 6.35mm they were carried by both men and women. Harrington & Richardson negotiated with Webley & Scott to license produce a version of the Webley & Scott Model 1912.  Harrington & Richardson manufactured about 16,500 units between 1912 and 1916, this example has a very low serial number- 689. Fundamentally the H&R version remained the same as the W&S pistol in operation, but some changes were made including a heavier slide with radiused rear contour, no slide cutout for the barrel which gives a sleeker profile and a stronger barrel. This example, SN 689 was manufactured in the first year of production and has 13 slide serrations and blued trigger guard common to the first variation, it is chambered in .25 ACP. The slide, frame and barrel have matching serial numbers and correct roll marks. The slide has approximately 40% of its original bluing remaining, fading in areas, the barrel shows about 85% factory blue with some fading at the muzzle, the bore has some shallow pitting in the grooves. The frame has 90% blue with some small areas on the front and backstrap showing handling wear. The hard rubber grip panels are in remarkable condition with the “H&R ARMS CO” monogram still sharp and clear. Mechanically the gun functions as designed- the safety functions correctly- flip up to fire!  It has no sights to snag in a pocket or vest and a 6 round magazine which is released by pressing a button on the bottom of the frame. A cool and righteous Pocket Pistol and an excellent addition to any collection. Thank you for looking.
