Description:
2nd Model 1873 Special order rifle that features a 26 inch octagon barrel chambered in 44 WCF caliber with a fair bore showing light frosting over the visible rifling. Sights include a German silver blade front a flattop sporting rear. Metal surfaces are a mixture of plum/brown/blue coloration with blue in the protected areas. Hammer and lever are also a brown/gray patina. Walnut stocks are in good condition with just minor handling mars. Action is mechanically sound. Crescent style buttplate. A nice example of a Model 1873 Winchester that was mode in 1892. 26 inch barrels are somewhat scarce. If you going to order an extra length barrel why would only get 2 inches? Most extra length rifles were ordered with a 28 or 30 inch barrel. That is why 26's are hard to come by.
