This fabulous 1st year 1956 Factory Class A Engraved Smith & Wesson Pre Model 29 .44 Magnum 'Five-Screw' has been in one collection since the early 1980's and is only now coming to the market for the first time in over forty years! A 1984 dated factory letter confirms the configuration and details its original shipment on December 7, 1956 to Rex Firearms in New York, New York. The gun is equipped with a 6 1/2" barrel, original bright blue finish, deluxe checkered rosewood diamond target stocks aka 'Cokes' and Class A factory engraving. This is one of less than thirty first-year factory engraved .44 Magnums in existence! Note this .44 Magnum has a three page-spread in Michael J. Kennelly's wonderful engraving reference 'Smith & Wesson Engraving' Pages 226-228. Overall the gun is in nearly new condition retaining 99%+ original finish. The gun is discreetly signed by Harry Jarvis in the barrel shroud and features his unmistakable floral scrollwork highlighted against a hatched background. Bottom line this is a first year five-screw .44 Magnum in impeccable condition, one of only a small handful of factory engraved examples extant. It gets no better. You'll wait another forty years for this to come to market again, do not miss your chance for the finest investment grade five-screw .44 Magnum!
