Description:
**** SALE PENDING WALTER J. ****

Colt Model 1851 Navy "belt pistol" in caliber 36 percussion, blued and case hardened finish, walnut grips, brass trigger guard and back strap, 6 shot cylinder, 7.5" octagon barrel, single action revolver, desirable "Hartford" address, made late 1857 by the serial number. Many of the "Hartford Navies" were shipped South before the Civil War and used as personal sidearms by many Confederate soldiers, especially Cavalry and officers.

CONDITION: Serial number matches in whole on the cylinder, grip, trigger guard, frame and barrel. Last 4 of serial number match on the loading lever, arbor and wedge. Blued and case hardened surfaces retain 5% original finish that has turned patina with some marks around the wedge and some light pitting on the forcing cone. Good but pitted bore. Tight action that indexes properly, locks up nicely, strong hold on both half cock and full cock. Mellow brass backstrap and trigger guard. Correct hammer and front sight. Grips show wear consistent with age but no splits, cracks or repairs. No cylinder scene remains, only the serial number is clear here. All in all an honest, representative pre-Civil War Colt 1851 Navy that could have Confederate ties.

TERMS: Shipping to the Continental US States will be a flat $30 with insurance included. We are registered with the CA DOJ and will ship to California!
