Description:
Colt New Service .44-40 Serial#15243 Manufacture in 1907 the tenth year of production. This 7 1/2 inch, long barreled Colt is a standout in any collection. The bore is bright and excellent. The top of the barrel has the Colt two line patent and address markings of "COLT'S PATENT FIRE ARMS. MANUFACTURING CO. HARTFORD U.S.A., over "PAT'D AUG.5.1884 JUNE 5.1900" The left side of the barrel is marked "NEW SERVICE CAL. 44. (same as .44 W.C.F. or .44-40) proof-mark located on the front end of the trigger guard bow, and with a single number "3" on the rear section of the trigger guard bow. A lanyard loop on the bottom of the grip frame.
All matching serial numbers and mechanically perfect. This early New Service has been freshly re-blued. The grips are Elk Horn with bark on, showing aged coloring.
