1894 TAKEDOWN OCTAGON RIFLE IN SCARCE .32-40 CALIBER, #652XXX, MADE 1914. As is typical of rifles with special features, like takedown, Winchester selected better than standard walnut for the stock. This one has some nice extra figure/striping in the stock. The barrel and magazine show fine deep original blue and excellent markings. The receiver is mostly very aged blue turning gray and brown with fine blue on the bolt and small areas of good blue in the most protected areas and on the loading gate. The wood is excellent with tight wood to metal fit, original Winchester buckhorn and blade sights, exc. screw heads, tight takedown and excellent bore all the way through. Very few .32-40 octagon takedown rifles were manufactured.
