About Us: long time collector, shooter

Description:
This lovely Marlin model 1881 antique rifle is  45 Govt ( 45-70) , circa 1885 , octagon 27" barrel full magazine , EXCELLENT bright bore, EXCELLENT function, EXCELLENT highly figured wood , GOLD  plated forend cap and buttplate . Has the stronger, thicker, heavy receiver with tight lock up.   Some few exterior pits : on receiver right side , and right side mid-barrel area . Has sling studs.
Accurate and fun to shoot and experience the 1880's history . I have used Remington 405 gr. ammo , and also various lead loads with very satisfying results . Having owned this approx. 47 years , this has been a very long, interesting experience with the early Marlins . The 1st style  Marlin was quite formidable in the 1880's . For example, shooting this at 200 yards at a hanging 12" steel disc , I  shot slightly high and the bullet broke the heavy chain !
This is truly an unique and shootable Marlin 1881 that is an 137 years old antique . This Marlin has both beauty and function !               ***My camera kept lightening the pictures . The closest picture representing truer colors is the next to last picture , on tan background , although still somewhat lighter than reality .

I'm downsizing my collection, so NO RETURN .  This is a used antique rifle .  If any  questions , please ask.
Price is fixed at $ 3,495.00 .Shipping is extra . This ships in a free hard case . Payment by USPS money order only . No FFL needed , but an over 21 ID is required .
