Description:
This 4-round side-fed lever-action rifle is a Marlin Model 1895M chambered in .450 Marlin. The Marlin Model 1895M is a smaller version of the Classic Model 1895, except with an 18.5" barrel. It weighs only 7 pounds. This rifle is like brand new and does not look like it's been fired much, if any. The bluing is immaculate. Adjacent to the front ramp sight hood are a total of 14 portholes in the barrel designed to cut muzzle flip. It has swivel studs top and bottom, and a thick ventilated rubber butt pad. It has a beautiful American black walnut straight-grip stock, cut checkering and a tough Mar-Shield finish. This firearm also has a solid top receiver tapped for scope mount or receiver sight as well as an offset hammer spur (right or left hand) for scope use. The .450 Marlin cartridge is a well-designed and heavy hitting round with typical ballistics for a 325gr FTX bullet velocity of 2,225 fps (3,572 ft-lbs). The Marlin cartridge has a much higher SAAMI maximum pressure of 43,500psi vs 28,000psi for the .45-70 Government. As intended, the .450 Marlin is a very powerful cartridge that's easily capable of cleanly and ethically taking just about every species of North American big game from deer and javelina all the way up to moose and Alaskan Brown Bear, not to mention a spectacular round necessary for hunting large, tough animals such as moose and grizzly bear at short to moderate range. Additionally, the cartridge is a very good cartridge for reloaders, as it uses the same .458" bullet as used by the 45-70. The barrel has Marlin's Ballard-type rifling, which carves six deep and wide grooves in it that improves accuracy for high-power rifles. .450 Marlin
