Description:
Rifle length: 48.75
Barrel length: 34.75
45 cal.
This is a made-from-kit Kentucky long rifle in 45 caliber. It is from an obscure Spanish company, Jukar, which I know nothing about. It was assembled and antiqued to give it the appearance of an 18th-century weapon, but the hardware is like new. Only five rounds were fired through it to test its function when I first built it, and it worked fine and it has not been fired since. It’s been stored in a clean and dry environment, so the bore should be in like-new condition. I added a German silver patch box which was inlet into the stock and then tarnished. I also carved a cheek rest on the left side to create more interest. On the end of the ramrod, I place an empty 38cal cartridge casing to give more surface area when ramming.
The stock has been given 3 coats of hand-rubbed oil finish, the barrel has a brown bluing, and the brass has been tarnished to appear aged. A flint is mounted and ready to fire. This is a shooter, not just a wall-hanger.
