Description:
This is an original U.S. Civil War Ames Model 1840 Heavy Artillery Sword Dated 1865 in nice untouched condition. The sword is all original and complete. The sword has an excellent blade and markings. The sword is marked “AMES MFG. CO. / CHICOPEE, MASS” on one side of the ricasso and the other side is marked “U.S. / A.D.K. / 1865”. The blade still has a very nice bright finish on it. The brass guard has a nice even and mellow patina. The black leather grip is intact with a nice finish. The brass wire on the grip is in excellent condition. The scabbard is in nice condition with no dents but has a spotted finish and the two hanger loops are intact. This would make a nice addition to any civil War collection.
