Description:
1907 COLT 1st Issue OFFICER’S MODEL “TARGET” .38 Special DA Revolver C&R

Pre-World War I Colt Target OFFICER’S MODEL Revolver

Here we present a C&R Colt Double Action 1st Issue Officer’s Model Target Revolver manufactured in 1907 in Hartford, Connecticut, with a production run between 1904 and 1908. In 1904, Colt introduced its first medium frame double action target model revolver as the Colt Officer’s Model. This was technically a variant of the original Colt New Army and Navy Series of 1892 to 1908. For 65 years they manufactured this handgun built on the “E” frame under several different names, one of them being the “Officer’s Model”. Each one was manufactured first and foremost as a target revolver and specifically not as a general-use handgun. These revolvers were available in .22 long rifle, .32 Colt and .38 Special, though Colt dropped the .32 Long Colt chambering in 1940.

The Officer’s Model was the top of Colt’s revolver line as a target revolver until the introduction of the Colt Python in 1955 and in 1969 the Colt Officer’s Model was dropped from production. In the days when the revolver was King of the Matches, the Officer’s Models were always the favorite of the champions and Colt held all the records.

This one features knurling on the back strap and checkered grips. The sights are adjustable.

The overall condition is good. Original finish/patina. The action is excellent. The strain screw on the front of the grip frame is absent but does not affect the action’s functionality. The bore is reflective with nice rifling. The grips are solid.
