General Specs: Winchester, Year 1935, 20 Gauge, 6lb 11oz, Chokes M/F, LOP 14 5/16", DAH 2 5/8", DAC 1 5/8"
Serial Number: 4456

Most double gun enthusiasts are aware of the reputation earned by the Winchester Model 21; a gun of superior strength.  Model 21 guns can shoot the most powerful loads, SO IF YOU LIKE MAGNUM LOADS FOR PHEASANTS, DUCKS, OR OTHER TOUGH GAME, THIS IS YOUR GUN.  From 1930 to 1980 they made about 2900 twenty-gauge guns in all grades, most of them Standard Grades, so they are not “RARE” guns.  So how do you know which Model 21 to buy?  For the upland bird hunter, the quest is for a LIGHTWEIGHT GUN WITH LONGER BARRELS AND CHOKES MEANT FOR THE FIELD.  For those looking for an investment that will gain value as you enjoy its use, condition and special features are important.  THIS M21 HAS THE CHARACTERISTICS THAT MAKE IT AN EASY CHOICE AMONGST THE OTHER AVAILABLE OFFERINGS.  Most Model 21 twenty-gauge guns are on the heavy side, weighing up to 7lbs., and have 26” barrels with skeet chokes, and fat beavertail forends.  This M21 STANDARD GRADE, sn4456 BUILT AROUND 1935, weighs in at a scant 6lbs. 11oz. with 28” barrels factory choked Modified and Full.  It is also equipped with a splinter forend that most upland hunters prefer in the field, another hard-to-find feature on a Model 21.   The barrels, action, forend iron, and trigger guard are factory original blue, with 98% barrel, forend, and trigger guard blue, and 95% action blue.  The barrels have tight ribs with crisp stampings and rib matting, mirror bores, and fit tight on the hinge pin and breech face with the top lever right of center.  The unusual Miller Single Trigger is crisp, and the gun is equipped with extractors. THIS IS A VFI CERTIFIED GUN, THE ACTION HAVING BEEN STRIPPED TO THE SMALLEST PART, ULTRASONIC CLEANED, ALL PARTS SCRUBBED TO BARE METAL, INSPECTED FOR FUNCTION AND INTEGRITY, LUBRICATED AND REASSEMBLED, CARRYING A 90-DAY MECHANICAL WARRANTY (this is a $275 service in our shop), everything in perfect working order. The wood is handsomely figured, with nice shooting dimensions including 14 5/16” length of pull terminating in a Winchester butt pad.  The wood-to-metal fit is superb, and the checkering is in excellent condition. The wood finish is excellent with only a few light handling marks.   See the tables below for the specifications.  There is no Cody Firearms Museum information on this serial number.  This gun is ready to hunt the upcoming upland season.  Not a better wild pheasant side x side gun could be found with its capability to shoot heavy 1 1/8-ounce loads of #4 shot with no fear of damage to the gun.  Equally at home at the clays course or chasing waterfowl with the challenging 20ga. Bismuth or Tungsten Matrix shot that is readily available from Kent Cartridge company.  What a gorgeous little Model 21 at a very good price, the lowest priced Model 21 20ga. on the internet with these specifications.  A great investment quality Winchester that can be passed down for generations to come.  Thanks for looking!
