Kentucky Style HUNTING/HOMESTEAD Long Rifle
Here we present an antique Edward Anschutz Half Stock Percussion Long Rifle, made circa the mid-19th Century in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Edward Anschutz is listed as a maker of high-quality percussion rifles in Philadelphia 1860-1882, per American Gunsmiths by Sellers.
This rifle features a “E. ANSCHUTZ/PHILADELPHIA” marked lock. The barrel is fully-octagonal with a rifled .38 caliber bore. The patchbox in the stock is of a unique shape and is engraved. Double set triggers.
The overall condition is good+. The action is excellent. The bore is in good shape for age with nice rifling. The stock is in good condition and solid. There is a V shaped crack that has been repaired, the apex of which is at the front tip of the trigger guard. The repair is not very noticeable.
