Description:
Deluxe rifle. Manufactured in 1888. The Cody letter states it was a 30" barrel originally, but it was sent back to Winchester for repairs in 1897 and 1904. it is now a 26" barrel. Shotgun butt. Most of the barrel and magazine blue has faded to brown. Some case colors remaining on the frame and, lever, and hammer. Has beautiful XX wood and checkering. Nice engraving but non-factory engraved, per Pauline Muerrle. Great metal to wood fit. Light pitting in bore. Nice early model 1886 gun with a full original correct box of 45-90 WCF cartridges.
