Description:
US Marked WINCHESTER Model 12 Slide Action RIOT SHOTGUN w/FLAMING BOMB C&R

WWII Made Circa 1943 in New Haven, Connecticut

Here we present a U.S. Post-World War II Winchester Model 12 Slide Action Government Inspected Shotgun, manufactured circa 1943 in Ilion, New Haven, Connecticut. The Model 1912 (or as it is more commonly known - 'Model 12') was Winchester's first slide-action hammerless shotgun.  It was designed by T. C. Johnson, utilizing a strong frame and a hidden hammer. The chamber was made longer for the 2-3/4 inch shells in 1927, then later for 3 inch shells.  This shotgun was available in many barrel lengths, all possible chokes, numerous gauges and 11 different models.
The Model 12 is an internal-hammer, pump-action shotgun with an external tube magazine. It was popularly named the “Perfect Repeater”. It largely set the standard for pump action shotguns over its 51-year production lifespan from August 1912 until first discontinued by Winchester in 1963 with over 1,900,000 guns sold.

The right side of the receiver is marked “US” with the Flaming Bomb of the US Ordnance Department. The left side of the barrel is marked “FULL” for full choke. The left stock has the inspector’s mark “GHD” for Brigadier General Guy H. Drewry, who during World War II commanded the Springfield Ordnance District (Springfield Armory).

The overall condition is fine. Very nice blue finish. The barrel has been replaced with a full-length barrel that is more advantageous for hunting. The action is excellent. The bore is shiny bright and smooth. The stock is in fine shape.
