Description:
"

This Model 1816 musket was made by the Springfield Armory in 1833. The 42"" round 69 caliber smooth bore barrel has a fine bore. The barrel is bright with a gray patina. The inspection and acceptance V and eagle at the breech are light but visible. The area around the breech has been cleaned and the metal smoothed. The date on the barrel tang is visible but unreadable (appears to be 1834). The lock is fine with an eagle over US at the center and SPRING over FIELD over 1833 at the tail. The lock and other metal parts are bright with very light staining. The swivels and ramrod (not full length) are present. The stock is fine with sharp edges, no cracks or chips, a strong JM inspector's cartouche on the left flat, and the stocker's initials, EG, at the tail of the trigger guard tang. The action functions correctly. This top condition Model 1816 Type II musket is fit for any collection.
