Description:
This is a full box, 20 original rounds, of .30 Winchester (.30-30) in the scarce Short Range loading with 100 grain bullets and 6 grains of smokeless powder manufactured by Winchester. The square corner, two piece Variety 2 box (identified on P183 of One Hundred Years of Winchester Cartridge Boxes, 1856-1956 by Giles & Shuey) manufactured circa 1897-1898. The box is in very fine to near excellent condition with an excellent primary label and bright yellow sunbust label stamped with the seller “JOHN P LOWER"S SONS" on the sides having repairable seam separation on the bottom and side edges. The wood inserts are present and the cartridges are in near excellent condition with slight age darkening and some tiny spots of verdigris.
