Description:
Unmarked for maker,Percussion Southern Long Rifle. Only marking is "8" on most parts. OAL 49", Approx. .36 caliber round ball,  33" Barrel, Brass furniture, including a brass Belly Plate on forearm, set triggers, Lock is marked with pictures of "Wheat & Sheves of Wheat" (Harvestor?)  Rifle has full length plain maple stock that does not have any serious cracks or splits. It is nicely inlayed with brass inlays. (None missing, see pics) and has an iron & brass patchbox. Bore is ~60-70% with corrosion from a mud dauber nest in one spot. The lock is loose and shows lots of wear, but cocks, set triggers work. The rifle has all the original parts and has not been molested from original.  A nice represenative Southern Mountain rifle from Georgia, Tennesee or North Carolina with it's squared dog bone tang and punch marked decorations on barrel & muzzle.  Ask questions before you buy, no returns.
