Considered the "Rolls-Royce of Colt Revolvers", the Colt Python has a reputation for accuracy, smooth trigger pull, and a tight cylinder lock-up. Built on Colt's large I-frame, the Python is a double action handgun chambered for .357 Magnum cartridge and features a full barrel underlug, ventilated rib and adjustable sights. Originally designed as a target revolver, the Python became a popular carry among uniformed and plainclothes officers. All Pythons have Impeccable finish and mechanics, they are hand finished and tuned to legendary precision. This 1969 manufactured gun, serial number E4331 is nickel plated. The gun exhibits some normal handling wear, the cylinder shows a faint drag line. The revolver is the uncommon 2 ½” barreled version, its bore has a mirror finish. This Python displays the second style of Accro adjustable rear sights, the top strap and rib are matted to reduce glare. The gun is fitted with Colts checkered Walnut service grips with inset gold medallions. Cocking the hammer on this revolver is the most satisfying combination of sound and mechanical perfection leading to a SA trigger break of 2.9lb, DA is likewise smooth at 10. 8lb. Not only is this Python a rare combination of short barrel and Nickel finish- uniquely this iconic gun is absent its iconic Logo! We can only guess at the series of events that allowed this Python to miss out on its side plate Colt trademark, a notable factory omission, only one other python is known to be in a similar configuration. On its introduction in 1955, the Python was one of the most imposing and expensive models offered by Colt. It represented Colts proposal to produce a deluxe high powered revolver in which the highest forms of mechanical and design perfection were to be embodied.
