Description:
This rifle was converted to an offhand Deluxe style target rifle. It has double set triggers and target scope mount bases on the barrel. It is 32-40 Caliber. It is fitted with a fully adjustable wrist sight and a hood front sight and has a 28 inch barrel with a false muzzle and bullet starter. It weighs 9 1/2 pounds. This type of target rifle used a cartridge that was loaded with the powder charge with a wad like a blank. You than loaded the bullet from the muzzle like a muzzle loader using the bullet starter. Then the bullet was pushed down the barrel to the cartridge. It was thought that the bullet having already being engraved by the rifling improved the accuracy. This method was used in the late 1800's through about WWI. The action dates to 1901. The rate of twist is 1-15 inches.
