Description:
RUSSIAN WWII Soviet NAGANT Model 1895 TULA Arsenal Revolver EASTERN FRONT

TULA Arsenal Nagant Revolver Made in 1938

Here we present a Soviet Russian Nagant Model 1895 Revolver made at the Tula Arsenal in Russia, circa 1938. The Imperial Tula Arms Plant was a Russian weapons manufacturer founded by Tsar Peter I of Russia in 1712 in Tula, Tula Oblast as Tula Arsenal. Throughout its history, it has produced weapons for the Russian state. It was produced for standard issue to all Soviet infantry from 1930 to 1945. This was the primary sidearm of the Soviet Union during the Second World War. This one bears the Tula arsenal mark and a date of 1938.

This is a seven shot revolver chambered for .32 S&W Long and features the “gas seal” system. This involves the cylinder moving forward when the gun is cocked to create a seal between the barrel. This provided a boost to the velocity of the projectile by eliminating cylinder gap. Leon Nagant is to be credited with this unusual system. He was quite the inventor and gun maker. The M1895 was made in both single and double action, though the double action design eventually became the default. The M1895 Nagant was reliable and was used by the Soviet Union military all the way up to about 1952, when it was replaced by the Makarov pistol.

The overall condition is good. Excellent action. The bore is bright and nicely rifled. Legible markings. Both grips are good, they are seated firmly and contain sharp checking. “1938” dated frame. “CAI” Russia import marked on the barrel. This example has been nicely refinished. Good holster.
