Description:
Many weapons used by Native Americans would have been present at most of the late 19th century's most well-known battles, including the Battle of Little Bighorn. This was a single shot 12 ga. fowler and has since been sawed off to a 12 1/2 inch barrel. It has an overall length of 29 inches. The ramrod is 13 inches long. The wood has a small tack repaired crack above the lock mortise. The forearm and barrel have been rawhide rapped and tacked. The stock has tacks in the shape of a, snake? on the right side and on the left a small cross. The lock, hammer, trigger guard, function as they should. The breach plug is missing the nipple. This would have been a good horseback or canoe gun. The tacks on the stock make me think that it might have been a reservation gun and there is a small medallion on the top of the wrist of the stock reads US INDIAN SERVICE. It sure is interesting. Other items are not included.
