Description:
This is a 1936 Mfg. chambered in 22 Long Rifle. This rifle started life as a Model 52 Standard Target. Later, the 28 inch barrel was shortened to 25 inches. The standard target barrel is 1 inch in diameter just in front of ther receiver and tapers to .75 inches at the muzzle, and has target blocks. It appears to have a sporter model stock fitted, and the barrel channel opened up to accomodate the larger diameter barrel. The stock is mafe from a very nice piece of walnut that is capped at the tip and has fancy cut checkering. This rifle has some high edge edge wear and handling marks but nothing serious. The rifle has the target Winchester 82A aperture sight and the hooded taget front sight. The barrel has an excellent bore with strong rifling. This rifle has a great trigger, thanks to Griffin & Howe. All of the custom work has been expertly done but there is no way of knowing whether it's Winchester Custom Shop or a competant gunsmith. Nevertheless, it is a very beautiful and classy Model 52. One thing to note is in picture 15, in front of the safety lever, beginnings of an old short hairline crack. The safety lever has a vintage "NRA" Medalliuion attached. Period correct sling swivels and a sling come with the rifle. This would make a great addition to an existing collection or a great way to get a collection started. s,, Buyer pays actual shipping.
