Payment Types Accepted: USPS Money Order Description: This is something you haven't seen for sale and will not likely ever see again. This is a custom made black powder percussion insert for the Antique Williamson .41 rim fire derringer made in the time of the Civil War. These derringers were made to fire the .41 rim fire cartridge, and with the insert, could fire a specially made device on which a black powder charge and percussion cap could be placed. This was a meaningful option at the time since cartridge ammunition was not readily available in many areas. The inserts that came with these guns160 years ago were very often lost. Sixty years ago a fellow here in Ohio made a limited number of these which sold out and no more were made Some were sold through Dixie Gun Works at the time. Adjusted for inflation they sold back then for the cost of more than fifty dollars today. This insert was made from an original by a skilled machinist here in the USA. Some fitting of the nipple may be necessary. These pistols have become a rather high dollar collectible, and a black powder percussion insert makes the Williamson Derringer complete as originally sold. This is a reproduction of the BLACK POWDER ONLY insert, and no warranty either express or implied is made as to any actual usage. $6 shipping. For what it's worth, I have never seen an insert for sale separately. Ever. If you have a Williamson derringer or think you might get one at some point, this is a rare opportunity to get the insert to make the gun complete. Then you won't kick yourself later for having passed this up. SOLD |
