Here we have a very cool Colt 1903 Hammerless pistol chambered in .32 auto caliber. The Colt Model 1903 Pocket Hammerless is a .32 ACP caliber, self-loading, semi-automatic pistol designed by John Browning and built by Colt Patent Firearms Manufacturing Company of Hartford, Connecticut. Despite the title "hammerless", the Model 1903 does have a hammer. The hammer is covered and hidden from view under the rear of the slide, this allows the pistol to be carried in and withdrawn from a pocket quickly and smoothly without snagging. This beautiful little pistol was manufactured in 1904 which was the second year of production for the model. This particular pistol is of the 1st type with the barrel bushing. This pistol retains a good portion of the original fire bluing and has a warm grey patina. Overall the pistol is in very good condition with some high edge wear and some spots of finish loss. The 4 inch barrel is bright and still has strong rifling. The hard rubber grips are in outstanding condition and are free of chips or cracks. Mechanically the pistol is excellent with all functions and controls working as they should. This fine Colt would be a strong addition to an existing collection and a good investment.
