****SOLD**** Colt Third Model (Thuer Model) Derringer fitted with a 2 1/2 inch side piviting barrel, varnished American Walnut grips (both number to the gun), spur trigger, built on a brass frame with factory nickel plated finish, blued barrel, and chambered in .41 Rimfire caliber. This single-shot pistol is in fine condition, with the barrel retaining 30% of the original blue and the frame approximately 70% of the original nickel finish. The bore is shootable with visible rifling, but there is light corrosion throughout. The grips are in very good to excellent condition, free of any cracks, chips, repairs, or major damage/wear. The original varnish is still 80% intact with just a few small spots of loss, and both grips are perfectly fit to the gun and tight to the frame with zero wiggle. The reverse of both grips is marked with the matching serial number in pencil, as-is correct for this model. The action is tight on this Colt Derringer and it functions perfectly. The hammer still has both the safety notch and full-cock notch intact, and the automatic ejector fires strong when the barrel is pivoted fully-open. A nice honest all-original example of its type. Manufactured in the late 1870's or early 1880's, serial number 8588 out of approximately 45,000 made..
