SUPERB CONDITION .38/44 HEAVY DUTY MODEL OF 1950 "PRE-MODEL 20, WITH SCARCE 4" BARREL, #S 148XXX MADE 1955-1956. Only 9,493 of these were made between 1950-1957. Those made before 1957, like this example, have the 5-Screw frame. It seems most of these encountered have the 5" barrel with 6 1/2" rare and 4" less common. This example with all matching numbers (including on the inside of the grips) retains about all the original blue with only the lightest edge wear on part of the cylinder front edge and a touch at the muzzle. Even the grip straps and bottom of the trigger guard retain about all the blue. Nice case colors on the hammer and trigger. Exc. markings and screws. Grips show no wear or handling. An limited production and iconic big "N" frame service revolver that would be hard to improve upon.
