SOLD ....Antique Smith & Wesson 2nd model single action .38 caliber. Here is an excellent little Smith & Wesson 2nd model.. S/N 14968 and all matching. It is in the .38 S&W black powder caliber. Has the standard 3 1/4” barrel. Over all the gun retains about 95% original nickel finish with just some very small and minor flakes mostly on the sides of the barrel where it has been handled for opening and closing the barrel.. I will rate the condition part by part for you. The barrel has about 93% finish with the mentioned minor thinning and speckling on the sides from handling.. The cylinder has 99% with just a couple tiny specks. All the nickel finish is still on the face of the cylinder so it has been fired very little.. The frame including the front and rear grip straps has at least 95% with just a few tiny specks.. All the edges are sharp and show no wear.. No pitting or bad spots.. The gun looks much better in hand than in the photos as it is hard to get good photos of these nickel plated revolvers do to the glare. The hammer has very good traces of case colors.. The barrel latch has about 75% blue.. The trigger has 90% blue. The mechanics are excellent.. Tight and crisp as a new gun with absolutely no play at the cylinder lock up and no side to side or front to rear movement of the cylinder. Rock solid barrel to frame fit at the latch and at the hinge.. Perfect half and full cock notches on the hammer.. This little gun is as tight as the day it left the factory.. Excellent markings.. The grips are excellent with no chips or cracks and a perfect factory snap on fit.. They show all of the fine checkering and show very little wear.. They have turned to a brownish color from sun light fading but still an excellent pair of grips. The screw heads are still crisp and sharp and are not burred up.. Perfect front sight never filed on or messed with.. The bore is near mint, bright and shiny as are the cylinder chambers. All in all this is an extremely nice and crisp little Smith 2nd model. Never messed with or cleaned on and probably carried a lot more than it has been fired. Shows very little actual use and no abuse. Priced very reasonable..Don't miss this one !!!
