Description:
Ithaca made a number of replacement slides in 1943 with slide marking MODEL 1911 A1 U.S. ARMY on the right side. The requirement for this slide marking was discontinued on 10/15/1943, but Ithaca continued to use these slides on hand for regular production. Most of these double stamped Ithacas were found within S/N range of 906753-916404. (Ref: Meadows book “US Mil. Auto Pistols” Pg 109.) Also in Clawson’s “Big Book” on Pg. 309 showing pistol S/N 909565 with double stamp feature. The subject Ithaca listed for sale is 909789 with S/N also found in Ithaca’s shipping records showing delivery on 9/15/1943 to Raritan Ordnance Depot in NJ.
Pistol is in excellent mechanical condition, with original parkerized finish. Slide and frame P-proof marks are matching; other Ithaca specific small parts are also correct. HS barrel with excellent bore.
